Dieng Plateauㅡ or most commonly known by locals as Dieng, is one of highland in Central Java that located 2093 above sea level between two districts, Banjarnegara and Wonosobo. 

If you want to visit Dieng, you can reached it by your own car, by train to Purwokerto and then take one bus ride to Wonosobo or by airplane off to Yogyakarta or Semarang airport and take taxi for one hour drive.

 

The best time to visit Dieng Plateau during the dry season, which is happen from May to Oktober. In this season, you can arrange your itinerary without disturbance from bad weather. But, one thing that you should know, you have to bring your warm clothes, such as jacket, socks, and scarf more because in the morning the air is so cold even the temprature could reach 0 degree celsius and minus on the night. Also, you can see Bun upas (frozen dew).

And if you want to get a chance to see the scenery of the land above cloud, you can visit it during the rainy season. Usually the rainy season happens from November to April. Although it's warmer than the dry season, i don't think it's a good time to visit Dieng Plateau because rainfall almost happened for one day from morning until night, it's difficult to you to do travelling since there can be landslides or flooding. Fog also happen on the rainy season.

Dieng culture festival held in August. The festival is held as a folk feast to enliven the cutting hair of Dieng children who have dreadlock. The children gets their dreadlock naturally, when they are toodlers. Surprisingly, after being cut, their hair will back to normal. 

After knowing when the best time to visit Dieng Plateau, we should know the best place to travelling at Dieng.

Sikunir hill is one of the most famous attractions in Dieng Plateau. Lots of visitor, come to see golden sunrise from the top of hill. To reach the hill for sunrise, you have to visit early. The climbing post is open at 2am. Don't forget to bring your own flashlight, because there is no lighting. It takes 30 minutes or 45 minutes to climb the hill. 

When it's about temple, Arjuna is one of the most famous temple in Dieng. The temple is usually used for Galungan ceremony and Dieng cultural festival. The festival is held around July - August.
